Tour the Studio
Each morning, after breakfast, usually around 8:30 in the morning, Nicholas would begin his work day in his art studio, located on the first floor of our family home. Therein, he would draw inspiration from his surroundings: The ever changing assortment of objects within the studio from dried flower arrangements to pieces of scrap metal that he had found on his many walks and from sketches that he had made and photographic slides that he had taken when out in the field. Several large windows on the north and southwest sides of the studio offered serene views of an ever changing backdrop of nature.
“As an artist, I have found that choosing the so called right subject matter is not just a matter of honesty, good intentions or even inspiration, but it is one of hope. A hope that I can love the choice enough by allowing me to submerge myself to the very core where the soul lies bare. The dance on the surface is only an invitation”
